A last minute goal helped SC East Bengal earn a point against Kerala Blasters

XtraTime Web Desk – Another match unbeaten in the books for SC East Bengal as with a bit of luck in their favour, SC East Bengal managed to bring a point home.

Kerala pushed hard for the their match. Debjit Majumdar stopped Murray’s shot early as Kerala missed an early chance to take the lead. Minutes later, SC East Bengal got a great chance to score but Harmanpreet’s weak shot didn’t trouble goalkeeper Albino Gomes. Post that, Kerala created few chances but SC East Bengal defence was there to stop. Bright Enobakhare, the star for SC East Bengal was brilliantly kept quite. He tried to do his magic but a very little space was given. Kerala Blasters were the better side as the first half ended.

In the second half, Ajay Chhetri, SC East Bengal’s newest recruit made his debut for the ‘Bangal Brigade’. Almost 20 minutes after the first half, Kerala Blasters picked up the important goal as their talisman Jordan Murray gave them the first break. Gary Hooper missed a golden chance in the 55th minute but with the goal, Kibu Vicuna and company were in a much better place.

Conceding the goal, SC East Bengal looked desperate for an equaliser. They played offensive football and tried to build a play from midfield. Pilkington’s shot was brilliantly blocked by Costa or that could have been tough to keep out for Albino. SC East Bengal pressed high and was close to the goal but they failed to take advantage.

When nothing was going in their favour, Rahul tried to clear the ball from his box but unfortunately he gave away a corner for SC East Bengal. Bright Enobakhare placed the ball brilliantly as SC East Bengal scored the equaliser in the 94th minute of the match. Scott Neville placed the ball beautifully and SC East Bengal pulled a point in the last minute.

Kerala Blasters got plenty of good opportunities to score but failed. Their shots were not target and thus Debjit didn’t have much to do. On the other hand, SC East Bengal got lesser chance but capitalized when it mattered the most. With the draw, Kerala are still 10th in the table with 10 points from 11 games. SC East Bengal are at 9th with 11 points from 11 games.
