XtraTime Web Desk: As per the Brazilian team management a wet hotel mattress may be the reason for Brazil star Marcelo’s injury who was forced to leave the ground during the Selecao’s victory over Serbia in their last group game of the World Cup.

The Real Madrid star was subbed after just 10 minutes of the first half and was very upset as he made his way straight down the tunnel accompanied by medical staff having been replaced by Filipe Luis.

After Tite’s sealed a 2-0 win which secured their qualification as group winners, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) released a statement explaining the attacking full-back had been suffering from back spasms which required treatment.

Speaking to reporters post-match, Brazil’s team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar insisted there were no real injury fears over the Real Madrid ace while also revealing the bizarre source of the problem.

‘It is still too early to make an accurate diagnosis,’ Dr Lasmar said. “The injury may be related to the hotel mattress. Although our expectation is good, we have to be calm and wait for the next few days.’

He added: ‘The important thing is that there is no injury, they were muscle spasms. Once he feels good to train, he will return and immediately be ready to play, there is no recovery period.’
