10-men SC East Bengal drew 1-1 against FC Goa but ‘bright’ days are ahead for red & gold

XtraTime Web Desk – Bright days are definitely ahead for SC East Bengal. Bright Enobakhare, the man who changed SC East Bengal completely as they now look much better as a team. SC East Bengal however couldn’t win the match but with the draw, they definitely sent a statement.

FC Goa were the strongest team on paper in this fixture. Specially as Anthony Pilkington and Maghoma, two of their key players missed the game because of their injuries. They however still had Debjit Majumder in the team who kept SC East Bengal in the match right from the start. He denied Doniachie brilliantly in the 5th minute. SC East Bengal didn’t sit back but played their normal style of attacking football. Enobakhare was the focus of all chances SC East Bengal created but couldn’t capitalize. FC Goa tried some long range shots towards the end of first half, but ‘Savejit’ denied all and kept SC East Bengal in the game as first half ended 0-0.

Second half was very happening right from the whistle. The first major incident happened as SC East Bengal’s captain, Daniel Fox was given a red card for a harsh tackle. SC East Bengal were down to 10-men but their playing pattern didn’t change. SC East Bengal more or less started dominating and started creating a lot of chances and that put FC Goa under some pressure. Steinmann got an easy chance to convert but the german kept it wide from 18 yards.

Bright Enobakhare finally broke the deadlock in the 79th minute. He dribbled past 4 defenders after covering around 40 yards and finished it in style. With this amazing goal, SC East Bengal fans will definitely fell in love with this new magician. Their happiness however didn’t kast long as Devandra Murgaonkar scored in the 81st minute to bring Goa into level terms. After 15 minutes of attacking football from both the teams, the match ended 1-1.

Robbie Fowler was happy that 10-men SC East Bengal at least got a point but FC Goa wasn’t happy with just 1 point. With the draw, SC East Bengal are now 9th in the place with 7 points from 9 games. FC are 3rd in the table with 15 points from 10 games.
