Internet Desk : Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and her doubles partner Barbora Strycova from Czech Republic couldnt continue their red hot form against US Open champions Bethanie Mattek and Lucie Safarova in the Wuhan Open Final on Satarday, as they have lost the match by 1-6 , 4-6.
The Indo-Czech were outclassed by the American-Czech pair in an one-sided final that lasted just over an hour. Sania-Strycova converted just two of the eight break points on offer while their opponents converted six out of eight. The third seeds won just 14 points out of 32 on their first serves which proved to be their downfall.
In their previous match they had beaten Chinese Taipei duo of Chan Yung-Jan and Chan Hao-Ching by 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 for a place in the final.
Sania and Strycova joined as partners at the Cincinnati Open for the first time after splitting with Swiss star Martina Hingis last month. They defeated Martina Hingis and CoCo Vandeweghe in the final to win the Cincinnati Open.
Out of their four tournaments the Indo-Czech pair reached three finals and had won two titles, which is an amazing record.
