Kolkata: Cricket Association of Bengal President Sourav Ganguly will be meeting the Bengal cricketers before their next tie against Gujarat on November 05 in Delhi. The meeting is scheduled to take place at the Eden Gardens on November 02. According to sources, the CAB President will meet Manoj and his team over high tea and encourage them to carry on their impressive in Ranji Trophy so far. Coach Sairaj Bahutule will also be present for the meeting along with India cricketer Pragyan Ojha.
Bengal will be up against Gujarat, the number one team in Group A. Parthiv Patel and his team has so far collected 15 points from 3 matches much like their opponents Bengal. But they are on top of the table because of a better run rate. Gujarat has in their ranks some big names like Parthiv Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel and RP Singh. Both Bumrah and Axar Patel, who were busy playing the ODI series against New Zealand is likely to be available for the tie against Bengal. Gujarat like Bengal is going into the match with two great wins under their belt. They got past Railways by a whopping margin of 294 runs while in the last match they beat Uttar Pradesh by 132 runs.
Meanwhile the Bengal cricketers arrived in Kolkata on Monday. The players will take a welcome break for a couple of days before they leave for Delhi on November 03.
Bengal captain Manoj Tiwary looked satisfied with the performance of his team so far. Speaking with the scribes at the airport, Manoj said, “The win against Punjab was more satisfying as they were a better team. We were lucky to dismiss Yuvraj Singh who has scored a double century in the last match. All we need to focus now is to try and keep the winning momentum.”
Ashoke Dinda, who bowled Bengal to an incredible win against Railways, has a stiff neck. According to Dinda, “I need a couple of days rest to get back to full fitness. Hopefully I will be fit for the match against Gujarat.”
