The African dynamite has brought the continental flavour back to Kolkata football which was freshly introduced by his continental native Fikru Teferra -the somersault. The South African winger Sameehg Doutie became a crowd favourite for his amazing somersaults in the celebration in the season two of Hero Indian Super League. Today is "The World Heart Day" and along with team mates Stephen Pearson, Debjit Majumder and Juan Belencoso, Sameehg Doutie went to a nursing home on the EM Bypass in a promotional programme. And Doutie had to face a serious question on his trademark somersaults as we have seen many players in the world to breathe their last in the process of giving somersaults owing to the cardiac arrests and damages on necks. The question was if he would continue to maintain his celebration style in the season three or not. Doutie replied,"The full three points of my team are more important than my somersaults. Doesn't matter who is scoring and how one is celebrating the goal." The first champions will play their home games at their new HOME Rabindra Sarovar stadium this season instead of their usual home The Salt Lake Stadium and the team will be locking horns with the defending champions at the new venue without having a single training session over there. But Doutie is not at all bothered as he said,"Footballers need to adjust with every possible conditions. As a football player you need to play on many pitches, previously we played at the Salt Lake Stadium and now we have a new home at The Rabindra Sarovar. But the reality is we are not gonna play our home games at Pune or Chennai, we will play the home games at Kolkata only. We just the supporters to back us. That's all." ATK will start their campaign against Chennaiyin FC on 2nd October. Doutie was asked about the preparation on the game and he replied,"We had a couple of months' preseason training at Madrid and played a preseason game here in Kolkata as well last week. Everyone has worked hard and tried to focus on becoming a strong unit. We are ready. I just want the supporters to come and cheer for us." Midfielder Stephen Pearson who recovered from an injury in the preseason training, is enjoying the new atmosphere here in ATK as the Scottish played his first ISL for Kerala Blasters in season one. Pearson said,"I'm enjoying the atmosphere here. Our understanding has become better since we had a great preseason. We came to know each other pretty well." There was buzz with his recent link up with I-League side Kingfisher East Bengal but Pearson replied,"Yes, Trevor Morgan texted me and wished me luck for the new season. But never spoke regarding any potential move to his present club East Bengal." ATK's new goalkeeper, the I-League "golden gloves" winning custodian Debjit Majumder will be having his first stint for the Kolkata franchise this season since his previous stint was with Mumbai City FC. Debjit said,"I am eagerly waiting for the first game. Had a vigorous preseason in Spain and we are looking forward to a memorable season ahead." The nursing home authority presented bouquets of flowers to the ATK players. The players too are resolved to blossom their skills from 2nd October to offer some "Fatafati football", so that the passionate fans can proudly say, "Aamar Bukey ATK". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuRH8Dr63E4
