File Pic[/caption] Kolkata: The Cricket Association of Bengal's intention to rename Eden Gardens can now be a reality after High Court's verdict on Monday where they said that the association van rename its stadium on any organisation or any personality's name. CAB on their behalf made it clear to the court that there are no intentions of them to change the name of Eden Gardens. They said that they are just planning to add an organisation name with Eden Gardens to make the naming rights come into effect. In football it has been seen that stadiums are named on organisations which basically a particular club sponsor just like Manchester City stadium is known as Etihad Stadium and Arsenal stadium is named as Emirates Stadium. In cricket if we go through such examples we will find out the Oval in London and Wanderers, Johannesberg in South Africa are named on their sponsors to fulfill the naming rights. According to sources close to CAB, to utilise the naming rights CAB officials may sign a contract with Reliance Industries but it is still not clear how they will use their name with Eden Gardens, before or after. The Eden Gardens property does not belong to CAB. The land is owned by the ministry of defence of the government of India. Eden Gardens is under the lessee from defence for 99 years and whatever they will decide first it needs to get pass from the ministry of defence.
