A closed door meeting was held inside President Sourav Ganguly's chamber today where Sourav decided to postpone the election and implement the amendments of Supreme Court which was recommended by Lodha Committee. As the election is going to be postponed much awaited fight between Sourav Ganguly and Biswarup Dey is also going to be dismissed. The Annual General Meeting to announce the election of CAB is going to be postponed. However, president of CAB did not say anything on this issue clearly. In his words it is clear that CAB is going to take quick steps to amend the verdict of Supreme Court. “At present nothing can be said regarding the deferral of AGM. However, the directions of Supreme Court is to be amended. Nobody can bypass the directions. Otherwise CAB will be shifted as an associate member which won’t be prestigious for CAB”, said CAB president Sourav Ganguly. According to CAB sources, to implement the verdict of Supreme Court, BCCI and state cricket associations have to change the structure of their constitutions. Post the change in structure of the constitutions, notice of the election can be declared. The process of changing the structure is also not an easy task. CAB is registered under society registration act. Prior to forming a new constitution CAB has to call the Special General Meeting (SGM). The SGM will approve the new constitution and then the new constitution will be send Society Registration Act Committee to get the approval. The approval of the constitution takes nearly 20-25 days. After the approval CAB can call the AGM after 14 days and the AGM will be able to notify the election. Today CAB officials conducted the meeting for the changes of rules comprising of former BCCI lawyer Usha Nath Banerjee, Joint secretary Avishek Dalmiya. Later members like Gautam Dasgupta, Bablu Koley and Saradindu Pal joined the meeting. However, treasurer Biswarup Dey and another Joint secretary Subir Ganguly were not present in the meeting. According to sources, if the verdict of Supreme Court is being implemented both of them can lose their posts. Moreover, they will be unable to contest in any elections further. However, claiming himself as a follower of former ICC and BCCI President as well as CAB President Late Jagmohan Dalmiya,  Biswarup Dey told today, “Supreme Court has given a period of six months to BCCI and the state cricket associations  one year to implement the verdict. In the 143 pages verdict Supreme Court declared that the 8+1 system is to be implemented after the verdict is being issued. Previous years of the verdict will not be under consideration. So none can prevent me from fighting this election.” In response to the claim of Biswarup Dey lawyer Usha Nath banerjee denied all his claims. He said, “On the no.23-24 pages of the verdict of Supreme Court in serial no.12.1.1 it is clear that office bearer holding any post for eight or more years can never fight in any of the elections. Supreme Court also gave BCCI and state cricket associations a term of four months previously to implement the amendments of Lodha Committee. Later they extended the time to six months.” Without naming Biswarup Dey lawyer Banerjee also said, “Whoever has given the explanation of one year, is miss-guiding the media.” After the verdict of Supreme Court, Biswarup Dey has been shunted. So he has nothing to do except miss-guiding. Now it is to be seen whether Sourav Ganguly is sitting on the chair of president of CAB or not.
