Top Strikers in I League: Foreigners ruling the roost
Kolkata: The trend has remained the same as it was for the last 4-5 years. If we look into the highest scorer for the I-League this season the picture has not changed at all. The baton of the highest goal scorer is still with the foreign strikers. It is the foreign strikers that still are making the difference for an I-League side. Let us have a look into the top five Indian strikers in this year’s Hero I-League:
Ranti Martins (East Bengal): Ranti Martins the most prolific striker in the I-league since last three years and it is quite certain that the picture will not change too much as he is still leading the top scorers list with 12 goals from 15 games. It has been the nature of Ranti he stores his best for the I-League and his consistent form every season is a must learn for all the other Indian strikers.
Darryl Duffy (Salgaocar): Darryl Duffy is a Scottish footballer who is the second highest scorer in the I-league. He netted 11 goals from 12 games he played so far. He could have scored more but his injury concerns denied him from playing some matches. Otherwise, who knows, Duffy would have been leading the top scorers list.
Cornell Glen (Mohun Bagan): The Trinidadian World Cupper began well for the Mariners in the I-League but lost his path mid-way with injuries and card issues. Glen has scored 9 goals from the 15 games he has played so far and is placed third in the top scorers table. Glen’s age has been major issue for Mohun Bagan as in this heat it was difficult for the 36-year old to play the full 90 minutes but he did so as Bagan were lagging a replacement striker with Balwant Singh injury crashed him out of the season.
Aser Dipanda (DSK Shivajians): Cameroonian Aser Pierrick Dipanda joined DSK Shivajians FC, who were the newcomers in the I-League this season. Dipanda was going through a bad patch in the beginning as his team was too fighting relegation. But in the second leg, DSK covered up the slots and remained unbeaten for almost 6-7 matches. Dipanda too started scoring goals with Real Madrid youth academy product Juan Quero assisting him. The Cameroonian scored 6 goals from the 11 games he played so far.
Odafa Okolie (Sporting Clube de Goa): Although the Nigerian goal machine has not been in the best of his form due to injuries and age has been a factor but still he is a fear for the defenders. Odafa has been the highest scorer last time for Churchill Brothers in 2009-10 season which was a hat trick for him but since then it has been the Ranti Martins era of Indian football in the I-League. The captain for Sporting Clube de Goa has 6 goals from the 12 games he played so far.

On the other hand, we denounce with righteous indignation and dislike men who are so beguiled and demoralized by the charms of pleasure of the moment
