Image Source: Xtra Time[/caption] Internet Desk: Former Knight Riders captain Sourav Ganguly was impressed with the manner in which Gautam Gambhir and his men outplayed Delhi Daredevils on Sunday.According to Sourav,“ The Knight Riders are a good team this season. But I must confess it was an easy win tonight. The real test for Gautam Gambhir’s side will be match coming up against Mumbai Indians on the same wicket.” Sourav did not hide out his disappointment of not seeing Md Shami in the playing XI for Daredevils. The Indian bowler is still to bowl in a match after coming back from injury. Although he was part of the World T20 squad, he was a mere traveler with the team. “It was very disappointing to see Md Shami seating in the reserves. Maybe he is still to regain full fitness. But it would have been nice to watch him in action” said Sourav. Delhi's new skipper Zaheer Khan, who himself played competitive cricket after a long time, was gracious in defeat and said the side will get over the loss soon. "IPL is such a long tournament; Every team is going to have one bad game. And this was our first and last bad game and hopefully we've got that out of the way," Zaheer said in the post-match presentation ceremony. The former India bowler also defended his batsmen for failing to put up a decent total on board. "We're just giving our young batting line-up freedom. They are quick learners, they've got the energy. We are happy with our plans and preparation. It's just about letting this team express themselves on the field freely," he said. Winning skipper Gautam Gambhir was impressed with Andre Russell's performance with the ball. The Jamaican joined the team on Sunday morning and followed it up with an impressive bowling performance. "The way Russell started was just brilliant. He reached Kolkata this morning. He is a quality player and the surface doesn't matter when you have quality. A lot of credit should go to the bowlers for restricting them to 98, half the job was done right there," Gambhir said at the post match presentation ceremony. Gambhir, who scored a gritty 41-ball 38 not out to guide KKR home, was happy to get some runs behind at the start of the tournament. "I thought that someone had to bat through which is what professional teams do and that is what we had discussed and that was my responsibility. Robin batted superbly; some of the shots were unbelievable. I was playing after a long time, so I'm happy to get some runs under the bag against a quality attack," Gambhir added. Andre Russell was adjudged Man of the Match for his brilliant bowling effort. "It wasn't the fastest of wickets, it wasn't slow either. If I get a chance to bat, I'd go out there and do something destructive. When things are going your way, you need to find ways to stay up there. I thought the wicket wouldn't spin that much, but credit to Brad Hogg and Piyush Chawla. Well played to captain and Uthappa as well," Russell said. Meanwhile Knight Riders CEO Venky Mysore confirmed that Sunil Narine will be arriving on Tuesday. “He will definitely be available for selection for the match against Mumbai Indians. He will be reaching the city on Tuesday morning,” said Mr Mysore. KKR team owner Shahrukh Khan may also be present at the Eden Gardens for the Mumbai Indians match. The Bollywood actor will be in city to promote for his new film Fans.
