Santosh Kumar as he misses a penalty in added time of the 90 minutes. East Bengal win the second leg of the derby at Siliguri 2-1 against Mohun Bagan with the help of a brace from Do-Dong-Hyun(40',74') while Mohun Bagan reduced the deficit with the help of a Katsumi (82') strike. Referee Santosh Kumar kept on making some silly mistakes in the high-voltage derby at Siliguri. Santosh Kumar was the topic of the discussion during whole of the 90 minutes but Jeje replaced Santosh Kumar after the match as the hot topic of discussion. Jeje missed the penalty in the 95 minutes of the match after he was successful in earning a penalty in the 93 minutes. Sehnaj pulled Jeje’s jersy inside the box and the referee made no mistake in showing a yellow card to Sehnaj Singh. Till then, East Bengal was leading 2-1. Do-dong-Hyun replaced East Bengal’s U-22 quota player Abinash Ruidas in the 32nd minute of the match. East Bengal broke the jinx in the 40th minute with a goal from Do-dong-Hyun by foxing Debjit Majumder. East Bengal received the penalty in the 38th minute as Luciano Sabrosa pulled Ranti Martins jersey down and referee Santosh Kumar awarded a penalty to East Bengal. This penalty was the beginning of all controversies. The controversy was floating around that whether Ranti handled the ball at first or Luciano pulled him down before he handled the ball. Mohun Bagan players protested against the decision and surrounded the referee. The two linesman came onto the pitch to rescue the referee and protected him. Meanwhile, Mohun Bagan’s assistant coach Sankarlal Chakraborty and physical trainer Garcia kept on protesting against the decision. In the 42nd minute Santosh Kumar gave the marching orders to Sankarlal Chakroborty and Mohun Bagan played the rest of the match without a coach in the reserve bench as Sanjoy Sen too was suspended.  At the end of the first half East Bengal was leading 1-0. Mohun Bagan players kept on protesting against the referee’s decision in the half-time too. Coachless Mohun Bagan reserve bench received some oxygen and rejoiced after Cornell Glen’s goal in the 54th minute but referee disallowed the goal marking it as an off-side. Commentators were also looked surprise with the decision of the referee. Few minutes later, both the sides presented good glimpses of attack and counter-attack football. In the 61st minute, Cavin Lobo gave a ball inside the box to Ranti Martins which Ranti headed towards Debjit but Debjit was successful in gripping the ball. Just a minute away, Bello Rasaq produced a goal-line save off Glen’s shot. Few minutes earlier, Bello Rasaq pulled down Cornell Glen at the edge of the box, but Mohun Bagan demanded a penalty. Referee Santosh Kumar awarded a free-kick to Mohun Bagan but Katsumi wasted it poorly. In the 74th minute, Do-dong-Hyun foxed Kinshuk Debnath and sailed the ball into the nets from his in habituated right leg which gave the insurance goal to East Bengal and Don’s second of the evening. East Bengal were leading 2-0. Few minutes later, in the 82nd minute, Mohun Bagan reduced the deficit by a goal from a Katsumi header that was scored by a Pritam Kotal’s centre from the right flank which helped them reduced the margin and the score line showed 2-1 in favour of East Bengal. At the end of the regulation time of 90 minutes, seven minutes added time was provided by referee Santosh Kumar. But the referee blew the final whistle 30 seconds before the full quota of added time. The match ended 2-1 in favour of East Bengal. The loss means that after remaining unbeaten in the I-League till the most no.of matches, Sanjoy Sen's side have succumbed to back-to-back defeats, putting a dent in their title hopes. Former Indian football icon, Bhaichung Bhutia was present at Siliguri to watch the match and looked happy with East Bengal's victory. Bhaichung quoted as saying,"With this win East Bengal have blossomed their title hopes But Sony's absence was an added advantage for East Bengal while Mohun Bagan looked little handicapped without Sony. Mohun Bagan should not lose hope with this loss as they are still leading the points table." East Bengal are placed second in the points table with 23 points from 12 matches while the Mariners are 25 points from 13 matches while Bengaluru FC is playing their fixture against Mumbai FC and are placed third in the points table with 22 points from 12 matches.
