Image Source: Xtra Time[/caption] Kolkata: There was another Man of the Match at the Eden Gardens for the epic clash between India and Pakistan. As Virat Kohli was exhibiting his brilliance in the ground against the Pakistan bowlers, former India captain and now the President of Cricket Association of Bengal was playing a match away from the 22 yards. This in fact was no less challenging than facing the likes of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis in the middle. But as we all know big occasions always got the best out of  Ganguly since his playing days. Dada never got nervous hosting such a huge match. And he was desperate not to lose this big test in front of packed 66,000 crowds on Saturday. He was a winner all the way on Saturday along with Virat Kohli. Here are five reasons why he won the match hands down. Man management – The Prince of Kolkata is gifted with this skill of getting the best out of an individual. He inspired and managed to get the best from his team mates during his playing days as he led India to a strong unit. It was evident once again as he got the members of the association (read even his staunch critics) working together to get the match organized smoothly. He immediately entrusted Biswarup Dey ( CAB treasurer regarded as a hardcore  anti Ganguly in the association) to look after the PCB chairman and other guests from Pakistan including singer Shafqat Amanat Ali as they arrived at the Eden Gardens. He got his other staunch critic Subir Ganguly, the joint secretary of the association to look after the dignitaries present at the Eden gardens to watch the match. While he himself ensured the grounds men are at their toes to get the ground in shape after the heavy showers before the match. Has it ever happened in the history of the association that the President himself walking up and down the ground to look at the proceedings before the match. Getting Amitabh Bachchan and Sachin together at Eden – ICC and the host broadcasters should thank the CAB President for his efforts to bring down a galaxy of stars for the high profile match. Who would have thought about getting two best icons of the country - Amitabh Bachchan and Sachin Tendulkar watching an India Pakistan match together? And then to get the legendary actor to sing the national anthem with his trademark baritone voice was an icing on the cake. It was due to Sourav’s efforts that former Pakistan captain Imran Khan came all the way down to Kolkata to witness Afridi and his men taking on Dhoni’s men. It require sheer planning to get stalwarts like Imran  Khan, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis along with Sunil Gavaskar , Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag on the same dais. Support from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee – Ever since the doubts about the match being staged at Dharamsala , Ganguly was ready to host it at Eden Gardens. There were quite a few associations to host the marquee clash.  He along with joint secretary Avishek Dalmiya constantly kept in touch with BCCI and ICC ensuring that the opportunity is not lost. The biggest support came from the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who has always emphasized on giving the Pakistan team utmost security. The Pakistan players had no complains whatsoever during their week stay here in Kolkata. Sourav has always shared a good relationship with the West Bengal chief minister and that helped matters as it is never easy to host such a high profile match between the cross border nations in this current scenario when a bilateral series looks a distant impossibility. Measures to have the ground in perfect shape - Soon after taking over as CAB president a few months ago, Ganguly faced the humiliation of having a T20I match between India and South Africa washed away on October 08 last year due to a spell of half an hour shower in the afternoon as the ground was not covered. This was much bigger stage. Dada brilliantly starved it off. Even though it rained for a good one and half hour, the ground was in perfect condition for the match to start with only 2 overs being deducted from both innings. Ganguly was too smart not to learn from the earlier embarrassment. Since then the Eden got a booster shot of sand injected into the turf to make rain-water seep underground quickly and keep the surface from becoming slushy. On Saturday, the former India captain's superb homework was evident. He had covered the entire ground with covers imported from the United Kingdom. The local officials pegged the cost of these covers at Rs 50 lakh. One extra super-sopper was bought only last Sunday in addition to the four in CAB's possession. The covers were secured with heavy stones and a staff of over 75 stood guard, in case of a storm, braving heavy showers. The game was already a full-house and Ganguly left no stone unturned to make a match of it. Leadership abilities – When it comes to leading a team who better than to have Sourav Ganguly. The Prince of Kolkata’s success as a leader on the field of cricket has become a folklore in Indian cricket. During his cricketing days he always had the quality of bouncing back when the chips were down and inspiring his team with his performance. Few who might have doubted his ability as an administrator when the India-SA tie was a washout last year will be looking to hide their face from Saturday as it marked Ganguly’s arrival in the field of cricket administration. The more you push Ganguly in the corner the harder he will come back at you. Sourav the administrator passed the test with yet another well-planned cameo.
