Xtra Time Web Desk: Pakistan opening batter Mohammad Rizwan on Tuesday came forward in support of Indian speedster Mohammed Shami. The Indian fast bowler was the subject of abuse on social media following India’s loss to Pakistan in the first match of T20 World Cup 2021 in Dubai on Sunday.

The 31-year-old bowler became the target of hate and abuse after Pakistan thrashed India in Dubai, even though India skipper Virat Kohli acknowledged that his side had been outplayed.

Like several others, Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan came to Shami’s support. Rizwan took to Twitter to share his views. He tweeted, “The kind of pressure, struggles & sacrifices a player has to go through for his country & his people is immeasurable. @MdShami11 is a star & indeed of the best bowlers in the world Please respect your stars. This game should bring people together & not divide 'em #Shami#PAKvIND "
