Kohli, Chhetri pay tributes to the Indian soldiers who lost lives in Ladakh
XtraTime Web Desk: Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli on Wednesday paid his tribute to the Indian soldiers who lost their lives in clashes with the Chinese Army in Ladakh. A total of 20 Indian Army personnel were killed during a violent clash with Chinese troops in Eastern Ladakh’s Galwan Valley on Monday night, escalating the already volatile border standoff between the two sides, an army statement said on Tuesday.
Indian captain Virat Kohli took to twitter in paying his tribute to the martyrs. Kohli tweeted,”Salute and deepest respect to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect our country in the Galwan Valley. NO one is more selfless and brave than a soldier. Sincere condolences to the families. I hope they find peace through our prayers at this difficult time”
Also joining Kohli in paying tribute is Indian national football team captain Sunil Chhetri. The talisman urged the cross border tension between India and China to be resolved across the table. In his tweet, Chhetri wrote, “Resolve this across a table while you can, not at the border. Act swiftly, for the sake of those army personnel who have died and for those who shouldn't. I can only hope that the families of those who have laid down their lives find strength to deal with their losses.”
Several other Indian sportspersons condemned the brutal attack by the Chinese troops. This has been the biggest casualty for the Indian Army in over five decades that has significantly escalated in the region in recent times.
