Internet Desk: Indian grandmaster Surya Shekhar Ganguly got off to a dream start in the World Rapid Championship in Doha Quatar, as he played a draw with current World Champion Magnus Carlsen of Norway with Black pieces in the opening round. He followed this result with another exciting draw against Ian Nepomniaschhi of Russia.
Magnus started the game with unusual moves to confuse Surya who kept his calm and took the advantage of inaccurate play of his opponent.With time pressuremounting,Surya missed an elementary mate in 3 moves to let his opponent draw with a perpetual check.
Altogether 15 Rounds will be played in the 2 day Rapid Event which will decide the World Champion in the Rapid format of the game.
