Kolkata: The Cricket fraternity hasn’t forgotten his last over in the inaugural 2007 T-20 World Cup final, where India beat arch-rivals Pakistan to clinch the title. After that crucial final over, he became the hero of the country. He is Joginder Sharma. Joginder is currently working as the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Hishar. However an unfortunate incident took place last Saturday night when two miscreants stabbed Joginder’s father, Om Prakash Sharma with a knife and robbed him in his store.

68-year-old Om Prakash was closing his shop near Kathmandi at Rohtak on Saturday, when two people came to buy cold drinks and cigarettes from him. After buying those things they left the store, but returned again after a couple of minutes and attacked him.

While talking to www.xtratime.in correspondent Sabyasachi Bagchi, the current DSP of Hishar and Om Prakash’s son Joginder said,” Two boys came to buy cold drinks and cigarettes from my father. After buying those things they left the store, but returned again after a couple of minutes and attacked and beat him. They then entered the shop and took all the cash from the drawer. They took nearly Rs 70,000.”

According to the local police authority of the Shibaji colony, they have identified four or five suspects but nobody has been arrested.

On being asked if a DSP’s father is unsafe in the country what is the security of a normal person, Joginder added,” The police are investigating the matter and you know everything is not in my hand. We are trying our level best to arrest the criminals.”
