Kolkata: East Bengal’s star Trinidad & Tobago striker Willis Plaza finally scored a brace today to open his account in the I-League 2017-18 and helped the Red & Gold Brigade to register a thrilling 3-2 win over Churchill Brothers at the Barsat Stadium today.

Earlier in the game Churchill broke the deadlock through Peter’s goal, but in no time East Benga equalized the score by Laldanmawia Ralte in the 17th minute of the game. He received a great through from Plaza and didn’t let go the scoring opportunity away.  During the injury time of the first-half, Plaza scored his first goal in the I-League from Katsumi Yusa’s corner. The score remained 2-1 at the end of the first-half.

In the 60th minute of the game Nicholas Fernandes equaled the score again thanks to a horrible error from East Bengal defence.  When everyone was thinking that the Red & Gold Brigade will again end their campaign in a draw Willis Plaza became the savior of the side as he scored the winner at the very end of the game to hand his side full three points against the Goan outfit. East Bengal is currently holding the third spot in the League after this win against Churchill Brothers.
