Kolkata: Kolkata giants East Bengal might not do their pre-season camp at Kalyani this year. Before the start of their first practice session tomorrow, East Bengal’s newly appointed I-League winning head coach met with the players at the club today. After the meeting with the players Khalid told the media that he will take the final call about the pre-season camp at Kalyani next week. East Bengal’s newly appointed physio Djair Miranda Garcia too was present at the meeting.
The Red & Gold Brigade will begin their first practice session tomorrow without any foreigners at 8am in their club ground. Trinidad & Tobago international Willis Deon Plaza will join the squad on 27th of July. East Bengal’s new recruit Mahmoud Al Amna is waiting for his visa. If he gets his visa in two or three days he will join the squad later this week. The Kolkata based side’s new defender from Trinidad and Tobago, Carlyle Deon Mitchell will be the only player to join the side on Tuesday. As their are a lot of players are yet to join the squad, the Red and Gold gaffer don’t want to conduct the pre-season camp at Kalyani.
Big names like, East Bengal captain Arnab Mondal, Gurwinder Singh Phagura was not present in the meeting.. Samad Ali Mullick, Cabin Lobo was present among the seniors. The club officials had informed Abihnas Ruidas about the gathering but he didn’t come to the club. In the meeting Khalid told his footballers to practice on mud stricken field while training.
After the meeting Khalid informed the reporters that he will announce the name of the new goal-keeper coach of the side after talking to Bhaskar Ganguly.
On the other hand Alvito de Cunha is returning to Delhi tomorrow. He went to England to scout new foreigners for the forthcoming season. Alvito will return to the city of joy on July 18 after playing an exhibition match.
