Will Pragyan Ojha be included in the CAB practice games?

CABKolkata: The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) Senior 11 team would be traveling to Gujrat on September 15 to play two practice games from 17th-20th (four-day game) and another from 22nd to 24th (three-day game) at Surat. The team will be lead by the newly appointed skipper Shreevats Goswami who batted brilliantly today in the Board President 11 vs Australia 11 game. Goswami scored a brilliant 41 from 54 despite his side ended up losing the game and it can be said owing to this score he has been elected as the skipper for his squad.

Other eminent players who will be in the squad are Anustup Mazumdar, Kaushik Ghosh, Purab Joshi, Abhishek Raman, Abhishek Mitra and others. Two left arm spinners are also included in the squad namely Pradipta Pramanik and Aritra Chatterjee who would be getting the chance in the team in the place of Pragyan Ojha. The three selectors who formed the team, Aroop Bhattacharjee, Madan Ghosh and Kalyan Chowdhury all selected to opt out Pragyan Ojha who didn’t join the squad from the training days. So now the major question arises as to whether Ojha would at all be featured in the Ranji Trophy campaign.

“We are keeping secondary options open, if we get any feedback from Ojha then fine else we have replacements”, said Abhishek Dalmia, Joint Secretary of CAB.

On the other hand, on the same day i.e. September 15, the CAB U23 team would be traveling to Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh to pray practice against the state and the skipper for this side is Ritwick Roy Chowdhury. Left arm spinner Anurag Tiwary has also been included in the squad which serves as another backup option for Bengal’s left arm spin department.

And as a result, it is evident that the CAB is not putting up extreme faith on Ojha as they are keeping his replacements handy.

To play the 2nd ODI match scheduled to be held in Kolkata, Kolhi and Co would be touching down at the city of joy on September 18Monday.
