Image Source: Sri Lanka Cricket Board[/caption] Kolkata: The Sri Lankan cricketers arrived in India today on a 46 days tour. The Lankan cricketers were forced to spend some anxious moments hovering over the Kolkata skies as their Sri Lankan Airlines flight (UL-187) from Colombo were not allowed to land by the Air Traffic Control in Kolkata. The flight carrying the cricketers were seen making rounds over the sky as it arrived much before the schedule time of arrival which was 11:25am. The Air Traffic Control tracked the Sri Lankan Airlines flight at 11:02 am. The team's batting coach Thilan Samaraweera didn't accompany the team as he did not get his visa on time to fly with the team. Samaraweera was confirmed as Sri Lanka's batting coach on November 4 and the former middle order batsman, who lives in Melbourne, arrived in Colombo on Monday. Samaraweera wasn't able to conduct any training sessions but was expected to catch up as there were eight days prior to the first Test at the Eden Gardens. The Sri Lankan cricketers after passing through the Immigration headed straight to the team hotel. The Lankan cricketers will be having a practice session tomorrow at the Jadavpur University Campus in Salt Lake. Dinesh Chandimal and co. will be playing a three day practice game against Board President’s XI from November 11at the same venue. Speaking to the local reporters, Sri Lankan captain Dinesh Chandimal said, “It will be a tough series. We have prepared well during the last few days. It will be a huge challenge to do well against the No. 1 test team in the world.” This is Sri Lanka's first Test tour to India in eight years. Their winless Test record in the country is well documented, with the 17 Tests so far resulting in 10 defeats and seven draws.The first test match of the three match series will take place at the Eden Gardens from November 16.
