Kolkata: Though India couldn’t win the first of three-match Test series at the Eden Gardens today, but the team’s pace spearhead Mohammad Shami bowled brilliantly in both the innings. Shami got a beautiful gift from his daughter Aaira after his performance. Aaira and her mother Hasin Jahan came at the eden Gardens on the final day to watch Shami. Little Aaira don’t know anything about cricket but after seeing her father in the ground, she sang a beautiful song,” Chanda hai tu mera suraj hai tu”.

Hasin Jahan too looked very happy with her husband’s performance.” Though India has drawn the match, but the team played really well. I haven’t seen Shami bowling with this kind of attacking intent in my life,” said Jahan.

Shami didn’t look too much happy with the result. The match couldn’t happen properly in first few day’s due to inclement weather condition. According to Shami if they could get full five days, the result should have been different.” We were in back foot in first two days. If we could bowl in the first innings the result would have been different. Me and Bhuvi gave our hundred percent in the second innings and I think we should have won the match,” said Shami. He got six wickets in the match.

Shami debuted for India at the Eden Gardens back on 2013, which was legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s 199th Test match too. He is thankful to Sachin, who backed him in that match to perform well.

Man of the Match Bhuvneshwar Kumar felt it was tougher to bowl in the second innings.

“Frankly speaking, it was tougher to bowl in the second innings as the surface was a lot drier,” said Bhuvi.

He added, “But the ball was reversing, so that helped. When I made my debut, I was totally dependent on swing. International circuit tells you what you need to improve on. I worked hard on my fitness and that is paying off. We believed we could win. Virat said ‘Imagine we’re in this situation overseas. If we get two-three wickets early, it won’t be easy for them.”
