Kolkata: Sayani Das, the young Bengal sensation who made her country proud when she crossed the dangerous English Channel touched down to the City of Joy in the afternoon of July 28. The 19 year old swimmer was felicitated by the CAB and the West Bengal Amateur Swimming Association at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport. Sayani’s father believes that her feat would not have been possible had the English Channel Association not helped her. The student of the late swimming great Masudur Rahman Baidya takes the Straight of Gibraltar as her next challenge.
