Kolkata: The Indian Football Association today penalized two Mohun Bagan footballers for harassing the referee during the Calcutta Football League derby which was played on September 24. The two footballers are Shilton Paul and Kingshuk Debnath. Ahead of that the League Sub-Committee called Shilton Paul, Kingshuk Debnath, Arijit Bagui, Chesterpaul Lyngdoh and Mohun Bagan physio Abhinandan Chatterjee on Monday after getting the reports from the referee Ranjit Baxi. After listening everything from them the committee has announced their decision today.

Bagan’s star goalkeeper Shilton Paul will have to pay rupees 2 lakhs as fine and beside this he has to give an unconditional apology letter too. On the other hand Kingshuk has to pay rupees 1 lakh as fine and an apology letter to the IFA. But if they submit their apology letter in a few days time they won’t face any problem while playing for Mohun Bagan. Beside that Bagan’s finance secretary Debashish Dutta cannot go to the technical area in next three matches.

The Chairman of the IFA League Sub-Committee Biswaroop Dey said,” We haven’t given any punishment to Arijit Bagui, Chesterpaul Lyngdoh and Mohun Bagan physio Abhinandan Chatterjee. But the IFA has given a warning to Mohun Bagan regarding this matter.

For the same reason Veteran Syed Rahim Nabi was banned for few matches, but the Bagan footballers didn’t face any match ban. On being asked about the matter, an IFA official said we called at the IFA to talk about the matter, but he didn’t come to meet us and said a lot of things against the association but on the other hand Shilton and other Mohun Bagan footballers came to meet us.
