Know about the ongoing war between Sreesanth and BCCI

Shanthakumaran-Sreesanth
Internet Desk: Is former India bowler Santakumaran Sreesanth exploring the idea of playing for another country. Sreesanth, still serving a life ban imposed on him after the Kerala High Court restored the original decision, has hinted that he will play for another country for the rest of his career.

In a recent interview the world cup winning bowler has hinted about playing abroad.

“BCCI has imposed the ban, not ICC. If not India, I can play for any other country, because I’m 34 now and I can only play for maximum six more years. As a person who loves cricket, I want to play cricket,” said Sreesanth in an event in Dubai.

The fast bowler also took to twitter, expressing his displeasure about the decision by the Kerala High Court. He questioned the decision about lifting the ban on franchises such as Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals who were suspended for two years from the Indian Premier League.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) however hit back and in their reply the acting secretary Amitabh Chaudhary claimed those to be ’empty talk’ because as per rules a banned cricketer cannot continue playing for a full member team.

“Any player banned by any full member can neither play for any other full member nor for any other association. All this is just an empty talk and we know our legal position,” said Chaudhary.

Sreesanth, along with Rajasthan Royals teammates Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila was banned by the BCCI’s disciplinary committee after IPL 2013 after having been accused of spot-fixing.

But in August this year, the Kerala High Court ordered the BCCI to lift the life ban on Sreesanth, saying that there was lack of evidence against him. Following this, the bowler had hoped to play the 2019 World Cup for India. “I always kept my mind and body fit to play cricket,” said Sreesanth.
