Kolkata: Kuldeep Yadav was the toast of the Indian players after their 50 runs win over Australia in the 2nd ODI today at Eden Gardens. The chinaman bowler wrecked havoc in the 33rd over of the Australian innings. He took the wickets of Mathew Wade, Ashton Agar and Pat Cummins to complete his first hat-trick in international cricket.

But what tips did he get from MS Dhoni before he bowled that hat-trick ball. Talking at the post match ceremony, Kuldeep said, “Tujhe jaisa bhi lagta hain tu daal (Bowl whatever you feel like). He (Mahi bhai) had the confidence in me. Virat bhai also gives me a lot of confidence.”

Both Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzuvendra Chahal has been a revelation in the ODI series as they have now picked 10 wickets between themselves. Kuldeep did have some tough time until the 9th over in which he got the hat-trick. According to him, “I was struggling to bowl in a particular spot initially but I settled down into a good line. Obviously in a game of cricket everything do not happen accordingly. In the last game I was hit for three sixes but I was confident to do well.”

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly heaped praises on Kuldeep Yadav for claiming his first hat-trick in international cricket at Eden Gardens. According to Ganguly, It is a tremendous achievement from the young bowler. It was a tremendous all round performance by Virat and his boys. It is always a treat to watch Virat bat and he set the platform for India to post a winning total.”

Sourav was the captain when Harbhajan took the hat-trick against Steve Waugh’s Australia back in 2001 in a test match at the same venue. But the left hander did not wanted to draw a comparison with Kuldeep’s achievement.

According to Ganguly, “I do not want to compare the two feats. Both are special. I was the captain when Bhajji (Harbhajan) claimed the hat-trick. That was a special moment for me. All I want to say is Kuldeep has a bright future ahead of him.”
