Kolkata: A crucial 2-1 victory over Patha Chakra gives East Bengal a bonus as for the first time in this season they go on top of their arch-rivals Mohun Bagan in the points table of the CFL. After the game, Coach Khalid Jamil was happy with his team’s performance and said, “Every game is important and we have to win each and every game. I am happy that my team has won today”

On being questioned about the win being convincing, Jamil said, “It is a good win but we will have to improve in some places. Every match is tough but yes I can say it has been the toughest game till date. We conceded an early goal but made a good comeback. This game will make the players mentally stronger”

“Everyone played well, Gurwinder also had a good game. I am not disappointed with anybody but we will have to play as a team” said Khalid when he was asked about Gurwinder having a poor game.

As per the standings, East Bengal is now clearly the favourites to win the tournament to which Khalid said, “It all depends on the next matches. The league is open and other teams have a fair chance to win the league”.

Star foreigner Mahmoud Al Amna had a fantastic game when he scored once and got an assist, said “We have some tough games in the upcoming days and we are trying to perform well. We have missed a couple of Indian players and also Mitchell and Plaza, but today’s game has been a good win.”

On being questioned about performing under pressure and scoring the penalty, the Syrian said, “It is normal to play under pressure and it is also difficult but it’s okay I got the goal. We have three more games and we will have to win each of them to win the league. We aim to play good football.”

“Mohammedan surely is a big team but I focused on one game at a time. We will get ample resting time before the next game and we aim to win it and perform well” concluded Amna.
