XtraTime Web Desk: After facing a loss by 31 runs in the first Test, Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli admitted that the better side won the game and his side needs to be more positive and relentless, just the home side were in the first Test.

“There is no hiding from this game; we need to be positive, relentless,” said Kohli during the post-match presentation. He did laud the efforts of the team his saying that they showed immense character. “Couple of times we made comebacks and we showed a character.”

Indian bowlers managed to bowl out England for 287 and 180 and Kohli reckoned the bowlers have set the tone for the rest of the series. “Bowlers were outstanding in the second innings and we can be proud as team to the start this way in a big series against England in England”.

The skipper, who made 149 and 51 in the match, expressed disappointment with the way the top-order performed. While Kohli scored 200 runs in the match, rest of the batters could only muster 214 runs.

“Our shot selection could have been better. We definitely need to apply ourselves better with the bat, but England came back superbly and we need to take the positives and move forward. There is a lot to learn from the lower order in the first innings, Ishant and Umesh got stuck in the middle.” said the 29-year-old.

Commenting about his first innings knock, Kohli said had his team won here it could have been his Test knock yet. “From the team’s point of view, my innings in the first innings is right up there, perhaps second after the knock in Adelaide. Had we won it would have been the best,” he added.

Kohli had scored two hundreds (115 & 141) at Adelaide but India lost to Australia by 48 runs.
