File Pic[/caption] Kolkata: Indian Football Team's improvement in the international level touched another milestone as The Blue Tigers has climbed to the 100th spot in the FIFA World Rankings for the month of May, which happens to be the best ranking in 21 long years. The Indian team have exhibited an exciting brand of football under the coaching of head coach Stephen Constantine, and have gone on a six-match winning streak, defeating the likes of Laos (twice), Bhutan, Puerto Rico, Cambodia, and Myanmar on their way. On this milestone moment, www.xtratime.in spoke with the members of the current Indian team, who have made it possible. Here goes their reactions: Stephen Constantine (Head Coach): As long as we keep heading up the ladder I am happy. It points out that we are heading in the right direction. There are major matches ahead and we cannot take things lightly. There’s no place for complacency. Shanmugam Venkatesh (Assistant Coach from 2015 season): The road was tough. We introduced a lot of new young players. This is the result of it. I want to thank all the people, the media who supported us in this journey. But we have way to go. Robin Singh (Forward): It was one of our aims. Stephen Constantine told us to achieve it and I am glad that we have made it. Still it's a long way to go. The job is not yet finished. We have to keep working hard. Yes, the journey started when we defeated Guam at Bengaluru in the FIFA WCQ after a few poor results and I scored one of the best goals of my career, but it has been a team effort, a combined effort where everyone contributed with their best possible way. A great moment indeed for all of us. Arnab Mondal (Defender): It's the result of some sheer hard work and team effort. It is going to be a huge step for the future generation. I hope the next generation will also be motivated with this improvement. The biggest positive would be the opportunity for the players to go on abroad and play in the top leagues which was not possible had we not reached in the top hundred. Pritam Kotal (Defender): I feel great to be a part of this journey. Feeling really good. We still have a lot to do. I will be hoping that the improvement in ranking will help the players to play on abroad. But this moment is something which belongs to all the players who have been honestly trying to get there in the last years. Md Rafique (Midfielder): There was a sense of disdain for us when we were languishing at the 160s and 170s in the FIFA rankings an year back. It feels good when those same people are giving this much respect for the national team players. Proud to be a part of this moment. Rahul Bheke (Defender): I got a recent call up. A great moment indeed to be a part of it. We have to keep working hard. The job is not yet over. But yes, its a moment to feel glad.
