Xtra Time Web Desk : The expression in Virat Kohli’s face during Tuesday night’s IPL 2022 clash against Lucknow Super Giants said it all. Kohli spotted a disappointing smile after he was caught at backward point by Deepak Hooda off the bowling of Dushmantha Chameera. It was the first time since 2018 that Kohli was dismissed for a duck. The expression on Kohli’s face suggested his helplessness. It’s not that he is playing badly but somehow runs doesn’t seem to come from his bat.

The former India and RCB captain is going through a terrible run of form for some time now. Kohli has now set a dubious record, going 100 competitive games without a century. He has now not scored a hundred in 17 tests, 21 ODIs, 25 T20Is and 37 IPL matches

Runs seemed to have dried from Kohli’s bat in recent times. In seven matches in IPL 2022 so far, Kohli has managed only 119 runs at an average of 19.83 with the highest score of 48. Kohli’s last hundred came against Bangladesh in the Pink Ball Test played at Eden Gardens in November 2019.

Virat's lean form is a cause of concern for India, especially in a T20 World Cup year. The 'Men in Blue' can't afford to have a struggling Kohli in Australia later this year.
