Virat Kohli close to break Sourav Ganguly’s record in Tests

Internet Desk: World No.1 Indian Test team is clear favourites to win the three-match Test series against Sri Lanka, which will start on Thursday at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. If the hosts can somehow beat the Lankans by a 3-0 margin, India skipper Virat Kohli will surpass the record of former captain Sourav Ganguly’s record of 21 Test wins as skipper (in 49 games). Kohli has captained the side in 29 Tests till now and have won 19 games among them. Though former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is still at the top with 27 Test wins in 60 matches.

Virat Kohli & Co. are in red hot form as they registered eight back to back Test series wins. In their last tour of Sri lanka they thumped the Islanders 3-0. They have started their dream run in Sri Lanka too back in 2015, after that two years have gone by and they have beaten South Africa, the West Indies, New Zealand, England, Bangladesh, Australia and Sri Lanka on the trot.

The Lankans are currently touring in India where they will play three Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is.
