Vijay Mallya spotted at Oval, says judges to decide his return to India

Internet Desk: Fugitive offender Vijay Mallya, accused of defrauding Indian banks worth Rs 9000 crore, was spotted at the Oval on Friday, watching the first days play of the fifth and final test match between India and England. Mallya is known to be a passionate follower of the Indian cricket team. He was present during India’s Champions Trophy clash match against arch rivals Pakistan last year.

The liquor baron has been settling here in the UK since leaving India on the back of number of charges against him. The former UB Spirits chairman is embroiled in many controversies, with the Indian government trying it’s best to extradite him back to the country.

On being asked whether he will return back to India, he replied, “It’s for the judges to decide,”

On being further quizzed, he got irritated and left the stadium.“I am not giving any interviews outside a cricket stadium,” said a frustrated looking Mallya.

On Saturday, UK minister Graham Stuart made it clear that his country will support India in every possible manner regarding the extradition of Mallya. Speaking exclusively to Republic TV, he said, “We don’t comment on individual cases. We have one of the most respected legal systems in the world and anybody will be persisted to that, but it’s not a heaven for those who break the law. We’ve close cooperation with India. Due process will always go ahead & it will be ensured that justice is done.”
