The club was rated to be one of the promising Goan outfits when the National Football League was there. Then they too decided not to compete in the front tier of Indian football. But it seems like the things have been changing. Goa’s Vasco Sports Club had unveiled their new attractive kits a few days back and that too in a professional manner. Now they have roped in former India international Micky Fernandez as their new Head Coach.

Former India midfielder Micky Fernandes has called time on his playing career to take up the vacant coaching position at Vasco Sports Club Micky was among the most lethal midfielders during his prime when he donned colours for Salgaocar FC and Sporting Clube de Goa. He was once on the rolls of Mohun Bagan and spent some time at Air India as well.

His lone India appearance came under Nayeemuddin when India took on the might of Yemen in 2006. But the man who convinced even the then India coach Syed Nayeemuddin of his abilities, believes it’s time to focus on coaching.“It’s difficult to be a player-cum-coach.

Last year, Micky was assistant to Eban Mesquita, although he had made a name for himself when he helped little-known Penha de Franca SC qualify for the Goa Pro League.During a successful playing career, Micky donned colours for eight different clubs, including six in Goa.
