Kolkata: Mohun Bagan forward Jeje Lalpekhlua wants to carry his AFC Cup goalscoring form in his next game against Kingfisher East Bengal as well in the Kolkata derby. After answering back the goal scored by “Welsh wizard” Gareth Bale’s former team mate Jonathan Brown in the AFC Cup game, Jeje is bubbling with confidence. Jonathan, who used to play with the Real Madrid superstar at Cardiff City U21 side, scored the opening goal against Mohun Bagan today. Though the goal was cancelled out by Jeje before the half time.

After the game, Jeje said, “Derby is a special game and everyone wants to score a goal in the derby. Right now my focus is on 9th April.” On the flip side, Coach Sanjoy Sen appreciated the performance by saying, “I gave rest to a few key players today, but the intention was to get three points, which we’ve got”.
The Bagan gaffer added, “The plan was to measure our opposition in the first 20 minutes before going for the attack. Unfortunately, we conceded within that time. But we all now have to shift the focus on the derby.” Sanjoy added, “It’s great to score 6 goals in the last couple of games. The more goals my players will score, the more confident they will become.”
Balwant Singh too seemed happy to get a goal. The Punjabi forward said, “The coach told me to stay calm and focus on the target. I’m pleased to find the target.”
The Dhaka Abahani coach heaped praise for the resounding come back of the Green and Maroon brigade.
