Kolkata: FIFA U-17 World Cup tournament director Javier Ceppi made a surprise visit to the Eden Gardens during the Indian Premier League match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians on Saturday.

Ceppi, who is on a two day visit to the city, was seen taking stock of the match operations at Eden Gardens.

“I am here to observe how a match is conducted. The World Cup final will be played here so special arrangements need to be done,” Ceppi told reporters at the Eden Gardens press box.

Asked if this was his first visit at any IPL game, Ceppi said: “Yes. Since the final will be here I am looking at how police is working and other security arrangements. I will be here for some time,” Ceppi added.

According to FIFA, the remaining renovation works in all the stadiums in six cities must be completed by May 30 for the upcoming FIFA Under-17 World Cup.

The city of Kolkata will host the final of the U’17 World Cup on October 28 . The tournament will be kicking off on October 6.
