Kolkata: East Bengal coach Trevor Morgan landed in the city tonight around 10:30 p.m. with his assistant Richard Dryden. Richard Dryden will be assisting Trevor this season in East Bengal with goalkeeper coach Abhjit Mondal.

The former Manchester City player Richard Dryden said, “Trevor is my friend for quite a long time. We share a very good relationship. I am very well known to his coaching style as I have seen him coaching for many clubs in the past. During my playing days, I had played with Trevor too in Birmingham City for a season. I am thankful to Trevor that he has chosen me as his assistant and would like to do well for East Bengal in the coming days.”

Both, Trevor and Dryden looked tired after a hectic journey and did not want to speak much. They will head to East Bengal club on Monday for a medical and physical test of the players and it is expected that the duo may address the media the very same day.

Trevor was very well known without the fact of two I-League clubs withdrawing their names from the country’s major competition. Trevor said with a worried face, “I am very much shocked with their decision. I-League was a long tournament few years but now it has turned out to be a 9-7 teams competition which is a disaster. i hope AIFF will be sitting with the officials of both the clubs and bring out a solution.”

Few days back Mohun Bagan had said that they won’t be playing the ‘exhibition’ matches against East Bengal and Mohammedan Sporting. Morgan avoided commenting anything harsh on this issue by saying, “This is not my business. I am the head coach of East Bengal and I will comment only on my team.”

Regarding East Bengal’s CFL squad Morgan looked happy. The gaffer signed off saying, “It is a balanced team filling up almost all the vacancies. But I need a striker to score the goals for me. I will sit with the officials and ask for a striker in the CFL. I still have independence to sign one more foreigner. When I have the option of signing three foreigners why will I not utilise it. Let see.”

East Bengal will begin their training from 6th July at Howrah Stadium from 8:30 a.m. Before that players will have to give a medical and physical test on the 4th and 5th of July.
