Transfer Controversy: After Ruidas, another talented East Bengal footballer in trouble

Kolkata: Transfer controversy continues to put the Kingfisher East Bengal footballers into trouble. After the ongoing turmoil between Abinas Ruidas and the club, another East Bengal footballer in trouble. As per reliable sources, East Bengal’s talented goalkeeper Dibyendu Sarkar’s contract with the club got finished on 31st May, 2017. As a consequence, Mohun Bagan started to hold talks with the goalkeeper who hardly got any chance to play in the I-League last season for the Red and Gold brigade.

But as per Mohun Bagan sources, the player has been constantly threatened by his present club, so that he doesn’t sign for the Green and Maroon brigade. Reportedly, the Bagan coach Sanjoy Sen was really interested to sign the youngster. But after the entire incident, they too have got disgusted by the activity of their arch rivals.

Contract controversy is no new to East Bengal footballers though. The club’s lack of transparency on having contracts with the footballers has troubled a lot footballers in the past. Dibyendu’s case is a new addition to that list.

The moment www.xtratime.in asked East Bengal official Debabrata Sarkar about this matter, he got agitated. He replied, “What’s the problem if we try to retain a player? This is an idiotic question. We have full rights to try and keep him for the next season.” But if the player himself wants to leave? Debabrata Sarkar said, “We don’t care. If he wants to leave, he can leave.” The anger and agitation on his voice was quite evident that the recent controversies of Ruidas and than this one have certainly put the club on the back-foot.
