With just 6 days to go before the start of the biggest sporting spectacle, the organizers of Tokyo 2020 are left extremely concerned with the news of first positive case of the coronavirus pandemic. The reason for concerns is quite obvious as the dreaded virus has breached the safest place i.e., the Tokyo Games village.

Tokyo officials have confirmed that 1st case has been reported as official connected to the Games has become the first resident of the Olympic Village to test positive for COVID-19

As per reports there had been 14 more confirmed new infections in Japan linked to the Games since July 1. It brings the total number in that period to 44, with less than a week to go before the July 23 Opening Ceremony.

The affected official has been placed into a 14-day quarantine, Tokyo 2020 said.
