Three top sports people from Bengal gets special felicitation

Kolkata: Indus Valley World School today felicitated three eminent personals of Kolkata for their contribution in Indian sports. They were Bengal’s former Ranji Trophy winning captain Sambaran Banerjee, Grandmaster Dibyendu Barua and Everest winning mountaineer and the Officer In charge of Gariahat Police Station Ujwal Roy.

These sports persons later felicitated the students of the school who did well in various sports events and made the state proud. Among them were, Ankit Hazarika of class five who was the runners-up of Bengal Taikondo Hanmadang in the year 2017, Sattwick Mukherjee of class seven as he became third in International Open Cerate Championship 2017 in the 35kg category, Aviraj Touhid of class six won the gold medal in the International Open Cerate tournament and Sohon Poddar who is a striker and went to Barcelona to take part in a youth development project of JEFA.

In this programme Sambaran Banerjee said,” This is a very good initiative and if all the schools in our state start this thing we will get a lot of talented sportspersons from here.”

According to Sambaran Banerjee,” There are a lot of talented students in this school who play chess very well. Among them few students are from my academy. I think if we guide them well it will be good for the state as well as the country.”

Sambaran further added,” If we find any talented cricketer from this school he will get traing from my academy for free of cost.”
