XtraTime Web Desk: Today the Table Tennis Federation of India ( TTFI ) and Indian Olympic Association has strongly taken action and suggests that if it’s proven, Soumyajit will face suspension.

Ironically Soumyajit who is training in Germany before the CWG and German Open can be rusticated from the Indian team. This is a big loss for the 24 year old Arjuna Awardee.

If Soumyajit doesn’t feature in the German Open or Commonwealth Games, chances of India winning gold in table tennis will be less, but TTFI wants respect for women more than the medals.

Mr. M P Singh said to Xtra Time, “ We are taking the matter seriously. We have formed a 5 member committee that will discuss the matter tomorrow at Delhi. The members are G Sathiyan, Antony Amalraj, A Sarath Kamal, Harmeet Desai and myself. We want him suspended.”

A few days back when Mohammed Shami was involved in a sex scandal, BCCI did the same with him by keeping him out from the national squad. BCCI said they were following the ‘Ben Stokes’ rule, with the England captain being suspended for drunk behaviour inside a bar.

M P Singh further said, “ You can’t replace a player unless he/she is injured. We are looking into this matter deeply.”

Indian Olympic Association President Mr. Norendro Barta said, “ We aren’t clear yet with the matter. We will do what TTFI does and follow them.”

When Xtra Time contacted Soumyajit Ghosh who is in Germany, he said, “ Nothing has been proved yet. I trust the parent body. I’m innocent but my ex and her family are forcefully trying to prove me guilty. “

On contacting the victim, a 18 year old girl from Barasat, she said, “ Soumyajit broke my trust and belief. I’ll fight till the end. He has tortured and harassed me. “

Soumyajit Ghosh has been charged with 376, 120 B and POSCO and the girl has logged a complaint at Barasat Police Station along with her parents.
