Kolkata: After winning a gold medal in heptathlon in the recently concluded Asian Games in Jakarta Swapna Barman has returned to Kolkata from Delhi. She first went to Delhi from Jakarta where she was felicitated by Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi and Sports Minister of India Shri Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore. Today she returned to the City of Joy at 12.50pm.
Sports Minister of state Shri Aroop Biswas was present at the airport to greet the ‘Golden Girl’ of West Bengal. Beside that Bengal Olympic Association President & Secretary Ajit Banerjee & Swapan Banerjee too were present there. Swapna’s friends from Charuchandra College too came in numbers with the banner of Swapna to greet her. She was felicitated by BOA there as well, not only that they also handed a big amount of prize money to her. We all know that Swapan Banerjee is the Football Secretary of Kolkata giant Mohun Bagan as well, so he also congratulated Swapna from the Green & Maroon Brigade too. From there she went straight to SAI with her childhood coach Shubhash Sarkar. Both of them were felicitated there as well.
After getting all the love from everyone, Swapna said,” I had no idea that I would get this much love from everyone. I am very happy. I have a lot of memories of this place and that’s why I have come at SAI first after returning to Kolkata.”
