Kolkata: The defeat against Aizawl FC last week is past now, Trevor Morgan’s Kingfisher East Bengal is all set to turn it around when they will take the challenge of defending champions Bengaluru FC on Saturday. The Red and Gold brigade has flown to Bengaluru today without their ace forward Willis Plaza and fullback Rahul Bheke because of injuries. The British coach has seemed very much determined to get back to the winning ways from their next game and urges h is team to work harder in the remaining games.

The East Bengal gaffer was asked about the involvement of his weapons like Jackichand Singh, David Lalrinmuana and Romeo Fernandes. Trevor replied, “Jackichand is a top class player. He works really hard in the training and whenever he gets the chance to play. But one thing I want to make very much clear. We play in a formation where we don’t play wingers. May be the coach who will come after my reign, can give them regular playing opportunities. In fact, any coach who play with a 4-4-2 formation would play them day in day out. But my system doesn’t suit them”.

East Bengal though has included players like David Lalrinmuana, Anwar, Jackichand Singh, Mehtab Singh(U22) and Md.Rafique in their Bengaluru bound squad and interestingly left out players like Arnab Mondal, Abinas Ruidas, Willis Plaza and Rahul Bheke. Though Trevor said, “Arnab will be doing special training with our physical trainer Varun in the next 4-5 days in Kolkata as he needs that right now.”

On being asked about the availability of his fourth foreigner Chris Payne at Bengaluru, he replied, “Payne missed out in Aizawl as he had some stomach problems but trained today with Robin on the upfront and seemed gelling really well in together. He will play a significant part in our next game.”

Trevor seemed very much aware about his tasks ahead at Bengaluru as he said, “We need to work really hard from now on which I believe we didn’t do in the last couple of games. Football is a sport where you will get nothing if you don’t work hard. If we start working hard, the positive results will follow automatically. Willis has a small tear in his groin and Rahul has a hamstring, but the other players who are travelling, know their job pretty well.” He added, “Bengaluru will be a tough team at home despite the fact that John Johnson is out. I worked with Sandesh Jinghan at Blasters and he is a good eneough option for them in the back four.”
