Kolkata: The brawl between the Club Secretary and the Football Secretary was going bad to worse in the last few weeks in Kingfisher East Bengal. Every time when the Club Secretary Kalyan Majumder was asked about the performance of the team, he targeted Football Secretary Santosh Bhattacharya for all the blame and responsibility in the last few weeks. The way Kalyan Majumder was attacking the other East Bengal official, the turmoil started to annoy the team and the fans as well. Today, in an interaction with
www.xtratime.in , Football Secretary Santosh Bhattacharya said, "I don't want to be the Football Secretary anymore. I have informed the club about my wish to step down. I told the club in the last season as well that I would no longer be associated with such designation anymore. But later continued after a few officials personally requested me. But enough is enough now." Though, it will be the club which will take the final call on his request. No doubt, with the way the Club Secretary has started creating trouble in the Red and Gold camp, the team has started to get affected as well of late. The latest issue with Santosh Bhattacharya has been another addition to that list.
On the other hand, Kingfisher East Bengal forward Willis Plaza is on his way to Trinidad and Tobago to play the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers Russia and has left India today in the morning. The Caribbean forward has been the highest goal scorer for the Red and Gold brigade as he has already netted 7 times in this season.
The East Bengal no.9 will join his national team as they will play two FIFA World Cup Qualifying games against Panama on 25th March and 29th March against Mexico.
Though the forward will not have similar problems which Haitian midfielder Sony Norde will have when the Mohun Bagan superstar will play Bengaluru FC, immediately after playing his national team fixture for Haiti. East Bengal's next match will be on 9th April against Mohun Bagan and Plaza will not have much problems in gelling with the side.
