The boys showed the right kind of attitude throughout the series: Kohli

XtraTime Web Desk: Though the Indian cricket team lost the five-match test series 4-1 but it’s skipper Virat Kohli is still backing his team and he feels that the visitors have showed the right kind of attitude throughout the series.

“What matters to me is the kind of attitude you play cricket with. We said at the end of the fourth game that we won’t throw in the towel and we didn’t. We were a bowler short in the second innings as well, but even then the batsmen came out and played liked that. Lot of teams in the past basically have given up but we did not so,” said Kohli while talking to the media at post match press-conference.

India’s star opener KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant shared a partnership of 204 runs for the 6th wicket in the second innings and due to their destructive batting at one stage the Indian team management starting to believe that the match could be won on the final day.

“We did think about it but we knew these guys (Rahul-Pant) had to be still there with the score gets under 100, and we would have a chance then. England were waiting for someone to get out and take the new ball, we understood that also. We did have that thought at tea to be honest, purely because of the way these guys batted and got us to a situation during tea time where all results looked possible so I think that it’s down to the brilliance of these two that made us think that way,” said Kohli.

Kohli also thinks that the duel with England’s ace pacer James Anderson during the test series was fun.

“It’s been fun. It’s been very competitive but in the right way. We haven’t had any arguments at all. Basically he can bowl all sorts of deliveries which is a massive asset to have. He deserves what he achieved today because he has worked hard for it and he has been relentless and patient with the way he has bowled for so many years and he has challenged not only me but a lot of other batsmen in world cricket in these conditions so hats off to what he has achieved,” added Kohli.
