ED records Srinivasan's statement
MUMBAI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday recorded the detailed statement of former BCCI president N Srinivasan in a money laundering case which the agency had registered against former IPL chief Lalit Modi. The ED case, based on a complaint Srinivasan had filed against Modi at Chennai in 2010, alleging that latter cheated Rs 125 crore while allotting media IPL matches' broadcasting rights in 2009. ED, for the first time, recorded Srinivasan's statement in the case.
The ED issued a 'letter of request' under the Prevention of Money-Laundering Act (PMLA) to countries, including Singapore and Mauritius, asking them to provide account details of companies and individuals suspected to be involved in the RS 125 crore transactions.
