Internet Desk : Baroda and Uttar Pradesh qualified for the final of Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 trophy on Monday. The two teams will battle against each other for the coveted trophy on Wednesday at the Wankhede Stadium.
Amit Mishra and Piyush Chawla picked up couple of wickets each to help Uttar Pradesh to a 3 wicket victory over Delhi in Group B at the BKC Stadium, Mumbai. Uttar Pradesh captain Suresh Raina won the toss and elected to field first. Unmukt Chand(48) and Pawan Negi(41) powered Delhi to 158 for the loss of 6 wickets. Chasing 159 to win Suresh Raina(22) and Eklavya Dwivedi(49) steered UP to victory with 2 balls to spare.
In another semi final Baroda beat Mumbai in a thriller by 1 wicket in Group A at the Wankhede Stadium. By virtue of a better net run rate Baroda pipped hosts Mumbai to the final . Needing 152 to win in 19.1 overs to qualify for the finals, Baroda reached the target with one wicket to spare in 19 overs in a thrilling Group A match at the Wankhede Stadium. Baroda recorded a better NRR of +0.299 compared to +0.196. Baroda captain Irfan Pathan won the toss and opted to field first . Shashank Singh(25) and Surya Kumar Yadav(57) anchored Mumbai to 151 for the loss of 5 wickets. In reply Hardik Pandya(28) and Deepak Hooda(53) helped Baroda achieve the target with one wicket remaining .
