Image Source: XtraTime[/caption] Kolkata: His ‘superman-esque’ effort has been lauded across the world of cricket. Wriddhiman Saha’s brilliant catch, flying full stretched to dismiss Australian wicket-keeper Mathew Wade at Chinnaswamy is still fresh in the minds of the cricket lovers. The wicketkeeper flew from his position to snap it up from the short leg where the ball had lobbed. The wicket-keeper from Bengal will have gloves named after him launched tomorrow in the city. He will be the second wicket-keeper after Syed Kirmani to have a gloves named after. Sunridges Sporting Goods(SS) has brought out the pair of gloves signed by Saha, which will be in stores all across the country. Wriddhiman will play the third Test wearing these pair of gloves at Ranchi. The idea though was the brainchild of Mr Somnath Dasgupta of B. Dasgupta & co. It was Mr Dasgupta, who called up Jatin Sareen and floated the idea to him. Speaking on the idea, Mr Dasgupta said, “I called up Vineet Sareen of Sunridges Sporting Goods, immediately after watching him take that blinder to get rid of Mathew Wade. The idea struck at that time that why not has a pair of gloves launched in the market signed by Wriddhi. Mr Dasgupta has been providing cricket kits for the Bengal players since the last three decades. According to Mr Dasgupta, “We didn’t have anything to feel proud about since 2008 when Sourav retired from international cricket. Wriddhi has made us proud with his performance. This was just a be-fitting way of showing our sincere gratitude towards him. The young wicket-keepers will feel motivated to wear these pair of gloves.” Former India wicket-keeper, Deep Dasgupta feels, “ICC does not have a ranking for wicket-keepers. If there was any such ranking system in place, Wriddhi would be an automatic choice for the best wicket-keeper.” Saha has taken some blinders in recent times, be it the catch he took to send off AB de Villiers, the catch he took flying to his right to dismiss O’Keefe and the one to send back Wade in Bengaluru. According to Deep,“Keep all the catches in the same category. The way he kept wickets against Ashwin and Jadeja in both the test matches in Pune and Bangalore was just incredible. He is a natural athlete.” Former national selector Sambaran Banerjee said, “We do not much to rejoice about in the field of cricket after Sourav Ganguly and Pankaj Roy. Wriddhi has been brilliant behind the stumps. There was no doubt in my minds that he always had the potentiality to become the best wicket-keeper.” Sambaran also added, “I knew about it. I will have a word with Wriddhi and B. Dasgupta to see if such gloves can be sold at different academies in the city, so that the young keepers can get motivated.”
