Internet Desk: Indian golfer SSP Chawrasia is set to sponsor four kids within the age group of 5-12 to play for the prestigious US Kids Golf World Championship that is to be held at Pinehurst from 3rd August.

Four kids will be selected out of 120 on 13th of this month at the SSP Chawrasia Foundation, and they will compete at the finale of Milkha Junior Golf Championship that is scheduled to take place in the last week of May.

The winners of the finale would get a great chance to represent their country in the US Kids World & Teen World Championship, and if the young golfers from Kolkata qualify then the Chawrasia Foundation will sponsor them.

“It’s about giving something back to the sport, especially the underprivileged ones through coaching and sponsorship. I want to take the sport to the grassroots, there’s immense talent,” the two-time Indian Open champion told PTI at RCGC.

However Chawrasia won’t be present as he will compete at the BMW PGA Championship 2017 but he is sure to keep an eye for the US Open Championship.

There will be 10-12 spots up for grabs as Chawrasia is eyeing to finish in top-10. I am working hard towards it, I will give my best shot,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chawrasia said he’s still waiting to get the Rs 30 lakh preparation money as promised by the government towards preparation for the Rio Olympics.

“I was asked to submit documents again, which I’ve complied. I’ve got an acknowledgement as well. But it’s a lengthy process. I’ve no idea when I will get this,” Chawrasia said.
