Kolkata: At last the worries have come true as Mohun Bagan skipper Sony Norde can miss their next match against Shillong Lajong on December 14. Key players of the Bagan squad were injured when the Green and Maroon brigade routed Churchill Brothers 5-0 at Barasat last Sunday.

Yuta Kinowaki got a shoulder injury during the minutes of the game and he won’t be available for at least 1 month. Beside him captain Sony Norde, Ansumana Kromah and Arijit Bagui too sustained some injuries due to the poor astro-turf of Barasat.

Bagan team management don’t want to take any chance with Sony as the League have just started and that’s why the team management may not include Norde in the playing XI against Shillong Lajong on Thursday. Except Sony, Kromah and Bagui all the other players have practiced hard ahead of facing Shillong. On the other hand another Mohun Bagan foreigner, Diogo Ferreira didn’t come to the practice today as he had some stomach infection.

On being asked whether Sony would be a part of the playing XI against Shillong Lajong, the Assistant Coach of the Green & Maroon Brigade, Shankarlal Chakraborty said,” Injury is a part and parcel of the game, but we don’t want to put any player’s career on the line by keeping him in the playing XI with an injury.”

After today’s practice session the Mohun Bagan footballers celebrated the birthdays of Coach Sanjoy Sen and Assistant Coach Shankarlal Chakraborty. Beside cutting the cake, they also gave ‘Guard of Honour’ to the coaches inside the dressing room.
