Kolkata: Mohun Bagan’s star Haitian winger Sony Norde started his third season for the Green and Maroon Brigade with a bang as they thumped Food Corporation of India 3-0 in their first warm-up game ahead of the I-League campaign.

Bagan coach Sanjoy Sen used his all six foreigners in two halves of the game. Diogo Ferriera, Dipanda Dicka, Ansumana Kromah and Kingley were a part of the playing XI in the first half of the game. In the second half, Sen made a couple of changes in the squad as Yuta Kinowaki and Sony Norde came in as substitutes.

Mohun Bagan took an early lead in the first half of the game as Kromah scored a stunner after receiving a lovely cross from Dicka. The score remained the same in the first-half of the game. In the second of it was only a Sony Norde show. The Green and Maroon attacked a lot through the left flank. Rainier Fernandes doubled the lead for his side with an assistance from Bagan’s new Japanese recruit Yuta Kinowaki. Sony put the final nail on FCI’s coffin as he scored third and final goal for his side. The Haitian star winger passed three defenders with an ease and took a shot at the goal from sideline. His powerful shot hit the second post before getting into the net.

Sony looked happy with his performance today and he is confident about playing better after playing some more practice matches.” Day by day I will get my form and try to get in my best shape.”

The Mohun Bagan captain looked happy with the team’s performance too but he is eyeing to perform well against the ISL sides.” We have to play well in the warm-up matches against FC Pune City and FC Goa as it would help us to know the current position of the team.”

England football team’s young sensation Phil Foden played brilliantly in the recently concluded FIFA U17 World Cup. Sony played just like him today. On being asked about the matter, the star Haitian replied on a funny note that,” No man he have to play like me, I am older than him. He is more young my friend. But he is a good player and in here I just want to play well for my team and win games.”

The other scorer Ansumana Kromah is happy with his partnership with the Cameroon forward Dipanda Dicka.” I played with Kamo during the Calcutta Football League 2017. Now Dicka is beside me and he is a very good striker too. I hope our combination would help the side in the I-League. Tem’s win will always be the first priority”

The Green and maroon Brigade will leave Kolkata on November 4 and they will play two practice matches against FC Pune City and FC Goa.
