Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India captain Rohit Sharma was seen involved in a long discussion with Shreyas Iyer towards the end of practice session at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chepauk. The Indian captain was trying to explain Shreyas where he was going wrong while playing horizontal shots. The discussion went on for a good 30 minutes with Iyer listening to Rohit’s masterclass.

The discussion was more about the bat position while defending the ball to leaving rising deliveries. Not once during the conversation did they look to lose interest. The bat changed hands quite a few times during the discussion but Rohit ensured Shreyas picks his brain. Iyer will have to play a very crucial role at No 4 and countering the short ball from the tall Aussie pacers will be a challenge.

The Indian captain seemed relaxed as he gently strolled in the practice area before heading to the main ground where players, after finishing their net hit, did some catching practice.

Virat Kohli looked in great mood during the training session. He looked in great touch facing all three Indian pacers Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah. The pace trio bowled long spells and with a lot of intensity. It looks like Siraj and Bumrah will start with Hardik Pandya playing as the third seamer.

Ishan Kishan, who is set to open the batting looked rattled a few times while facing Bumrah. Head Coach Rahul Dravid did not seem satisfied with the way the left hander tackled the pacers. KL Rahul, who was seen practice keeping in one of the nets could also be an option.

As far as the spinners are concerned, Indian team management will go in with all three spinners in the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav. Local boy Ashwin bowled non-stop and hardly took a break. The veteran off-spinner was also seen practice hitting some big sixes along with Hardik at the main field.

The Men in Blue will have mymedic.es an optional training session on Saturday before they kick-start their ICC Cricket World Cup campaign.
